Welcome

Welcome

Fr. Matt Fase, C.S.C.

Dear Friend,

Welcome! Founded by Holy Cross priest, Father Edward Sorin, C.S.C., in 1853, ours is a dynamic parish community with a rich tradition of worship, service, and education in the heart of downtown South Bend. Saint Joseph parishioners are generous, friendly, and proud to call "St. Joe" their spiritual home.

As you join us in worship or just browse through our website, you will notice that St. Joe is a place in which we seek to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ and to grow as a faith community by making God known, loved, and served. I invite you to explore the many ways in which you might grow in faith by participating in liturgy and worship, serving others as disciples of Christ, and forming your heart through greater knowledge of His word and example.

Here at Saint Joseph, we are particularly proud of our parish grade school and preschool, which educate the hearts and minds of 500 children in the Holy Cross tradition. Both are highly regarded institutions that seek, in the words of Blessed Basil Moreau, to not only prepare useful citizens for society, but to do their utmost to prepare citizens for heaven.

Again, we welcome you! Our parishioners know that active participation in parish functions and ministries is the best way to feel a sense of belonging here at St. Joe. It is also a wonderful way to ignite a journey of growing closer to God.

If you would like information on becoming a member of our faith community, contact us at (574) 234-3134. I also invite you to stop by the parish offices at 711 E. Colfax Ave., and introduce yourself to me and to the other members of the parish staff. We would be glad to welcome you!

May Saint Joseph, protector of the holy family and patron of the universal Church, pray for you and for this parish named in his honor! God bless!

Sincerely yours in the Lord,

Fr. Matt Fase, C.S.C.
